There are many operations which can be automated or performed faster with specialized applications. Data can be backed up automatically, lost files can be recovered and more. You can perform all these operations with Essential Data Tools. It is a collection of useful utilities which can recover your lost photos, back up your files or shred them and more.

Essential Data Tools is free to try with some limitations. It can be installed in a few moments, on any modern Windows platform. It is also possible to purchase and install the included utilities separately. They don't require powerful hardware and you don't have install any prerequisite tools.

Once installed, Essential Data Tools will create desktop shortcuts for all utilities. If you don't want to clutter your desktop with too many icons, you can just leave the Essential Data Tools shortcut. The applications are presented on a clean and simple user interface, in different sections, which can be accessed via navigation tabs. They are displayed together with short descriptions, so it will be easy to figure out a utility's functionality, if the name doesn't make it obvious.

Although certain applications may seem similar, they come with their own user interfaces and unique functions. For example, Essential Data Tools includes an image recovery utility, called Easy Photo Recovery, which guides you with step-by-step instructions. After selecting a partition, the application will scan it and it will allow you to explore deleted pictures in your local folders. FileRescuePro is a similar utility, but instead of taking you through a step-by-step operation, it allows you to target a partition right away and explore all kinds of deleted files, besides images.

You can also find a backup utility, called ExtraBackup, which comes with a series of useful features. It allows you to schedule automatic backup tasks, which can be triggered on a regular basis or when a specific removable drive is plugged in. Other utilities can be used to locate and delete duplicate files, shred sensitive data and rescue corrupt files from damaged devices, such as scratched discs.

Pros

The included utilities are useful for various operations, like recovering lost files, creating backup copies, shredding data or removing duplicates. All applications are easy to use and they don't ask for too many resources.

Cons

Windows 7 users may have difficulties with ExtraBackup. While using Essential Data Tools, you will be able to fix almost any file related issues without any kind of difficulties.
